Why the order matters
What actually changes when a nomad becomes a retiree?
Retirement is not simply staying longer. A nomad optimises for flexibility; a retiree needs stability, age-appropriate health cover, housing for reduced mobility and a permit designed for people who are not working.
Why does timing matter so much?
Permit transitions depend on dates you do not control. Starting six to twelve months out leaves room to compare routes, gather documents and choose a home. Starting six weeks before an expiry means choosing from what is left.
