In short

A realistic Bali retirement budget is a monthly figure plus an annual one, because housing, insurance and permit-related travel are paid in yearly lump sums while food, power and transport are paid week to week.

  • Monthly and annual, side by side
  • Priced for your area
  • Built by people, not software

Categories in a Bali retirement budget

Each line is priced for your habits and your area. Air conditioning is usually the largest swing in a household's utility bill.

Categories in a Bali retirement budget
Housing Annual, upfront Area, land size, pool, furnishing, contract length
Utilities Monthly Air-conditioning use, pool pump, water source, internet tier
Food and household Weekly Imported or local goods, eating out or cooking
Transport Mixed Motorbike, car rental, driver on call, ride-hailing
Health cover Annual Age, pre-existing conditions, evacuation and region of cover
Care and help Monthly Cleaner, cook, gardener, night support, hours per week
Permits, travel, contingency Periodic and reserve Trips home, family visits, currency moves, repairs, early lease exit

We do not quote official government fees. Permit spending appears as a placeholder line only.

Why Bali budgets break

Why do Bali monthly expenses look so different from home?

Villa leases are commonly signed for a year or longer and paid upfront, so one large outflow can arrive in month one. Health cover is usually annual too, while produce, prepared food, household help and transport cost less.

What a budget plan cannot do for you

It describes what living in a place is likely to cost. It does not tell you whether to move, whether you can afford to retire, or how to structure income or savings.

How the process works

Everything runs through written messages with our team, so you keep a record of every assumption. No login, dashboard or app.

  1. 1

    Send your situation

Household size, target area, income currency, health and non-negotiables.

  2. 2

    Follow-up questions

Usually cooling habits, driving, help at home and family visits.

  3. 3

    Research and build

Current costs for your area, built into a twelve-month plan with scenarios.

  4. 4

    Walk-through and revision

We go through the document in writing, with one revision round.

If your plans change, we rebuild from the same baseline.

Information, not advice

  • Costs are researched when we build your plan, not copied from an old template.
  • Housing and health cover move most. We mark the lines to re-check before you sign a lease.
  • Income in one currency spent in rupiah brings movement no budget can fix.

Bali Retirement Guide is an independent planning service, not a financial adviser, tax adviser or licensed investment firm. Nothing in a budget document is a recommendation about your money, pension or investments.
